Bolgar Islamic Academy and Al-Azhar University Sign Memorandum of Understanding

On August 29, a significant milestone was reached at the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Bolgar Islamic Academy and Egypt’s Al-Azhar University. The agreement was signed by the Academy’s Rector Farhat Husnutdinov and Al-Azhar’s Rector, Salama Dawood.

 

The signing ceremony was attended by Russia’s Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, as well as Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan and Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia – Islamic World”, Deputy Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia – Islamic World” Marat Gatin, and Director of the Islamic Culture, Science, and Education Foundation, Mikhail Gryaznov.

 

The signing took place in the presence of high-ranking guests and ministers, participants of the IV Global Youth Summit.

 

 

 

 

The memorandum highlights the importance of fostering strong scientific and cultural ties between institutions in Egypt and Russia. It reflects the shared commitment of Al-Azhar University and the Bolgar Islamic Academy to deepen collaboration through the exchange of expertise and joint activities in research and education.

 

Both institutions aim to strengthen their partnership across core and supplementary education, develop joint projects, and support scientific research.

 

The collaboration will focus on enhancing the quality of Islamic higher education, developing joint academic programs, facilitating student and faculty exchanges, and organizing courses, seminars, and conferences.

 

Planned cooperation modules include “Quranic Studies,” “Islamic Law,” “Problems of Islamic Legal Methodology,” “Comparative Islamic Law,” “Interpretation of Legislative Verses,” “History of Islamic Legislation,” “Islamic Exegesis,” “Sociology of Religion,” “Islamic Jurisprudence Rules,” “Contemporary Issues in Family Law,” and “Methodology of Islamic Law Research.”

 

Just a day prior, the Al-Azhar delegation visited the Bolgar Islamic Academy, expressing high praise for the academy’s facilities as well as the quality of teaching and research conducted by its graduate and doctoral students.
