Enhanced Cooperation in Higher Education: Kazakh and Russian Leaders Discuss Collaboration

Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy held talks with Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, focusing on the topic of higher education. This meeting, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, highlighted the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation in the fields of science and higher education between the two friendly nations.

 

During their conversation, Nurbek detailed the latest advancements in domestic science, the branches of foreign universities in Kazakhstan, the modernization of higher education, and programs for  scientists. The meeting concluded with an agreement to enhance the educational experience for students from both countries, ensuring they receive quality and affordable education.

 

Shvydkoy highlighted the transformative efforts of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, which have significantly impacted the educational landscape. Nurbek emphasized the long-standing and successful cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia in the field of science and higher education. This partnership has led to the establishment of branches of leading Russian universities in Kazakhstan, fostering a vibrant academic exchange.

 

The press service noted that several Russian universities are currently active in Kazakhstan, including the National Research Nuclear University MEPI, Russian State University of Oil and Gas named after Gubkin, and a representative office of the Russian Chemical-Technological University (RCTU) named after Mendeleev.


Plans are underway to open a branch of the Mendeleev Russian Chemical-Technological University in Kazakhstan by the fall of  2024.
