Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) and Sebelas Maret University in Indonesia have agreed to collaborate on the development of dietary supplements based on plant extracts and marine organisms. The agreement was reached during the Russia–Indonesia Business Forum held in Jakarta, FEFU’s press service told TASS.
“A partnership has been established in the field of pharmacology with several Indonesian universities, including Sebelas Maret University. The sides intend to jointly develop dietary supplements from plant-based extracts and marine bioresources,” the press service reported. “Given the mutual interest in these fields, the universities plan to exchange research teams and build mechanisms for long-term cooperation.”
The agreement also includes collaborative projects in international relations and political science. These initiatives will feature faculty exchange programs and cross-university lecture series delivered in English.
FEFU Vice-Rector for International Relations Yevgeny Vlasov, who took part in the forum, held talks with academic representatives and youth associations. During the meetings, new joint projects were outlined, and prospects for attracting Indonesian students to Russia were discussed.
“FEFU has been a key partner in Russian-Indonesian cooperation in science, education, and advanced technologies for over a decade,” said Vlasov. “Together with Indonesian researchers, we are addressing pressing challenges in medicine, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology.”
Indonesia’s largest analytical institution, the National Research and Innovation Agency, expressed strong interest in partnering with the Center for Applied Oriental Studies at FEFU’s Eastern Institute. Both sides discussed implementing joint policy research projects aimed at reducing economic barriers and strengthening ties within BRICS.
FEFU is also expanding its cooperation with Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia’s oldest higher education institution. According to the university, the focus is on collaborative engineering research, particularly in the area of mineral resource extraction across Indonesian territory.
