Minnikhanov Awarded Honorary Doctorate by Leading Russian Technical University

16 April

During his visit to St. Petersburg, Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of Tatarstan and Chair of the State Council Commission on "Infrastructure for Life," was awarded an honorary doctorate by Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU). The ceremony was part of a broader event where a cooperation agreement was signed between the university and the Republic of Tatarstan.

Receiving the academic regalia, Minnikhanov expressed his gratitude and respect for the institution:
“It’s a great honor for me to become an honorary doctor. I’ve always said that St. Petersburg Polytechnic is one of the top engineering universities in our country with global standing. In Tatarstan, we have a strong technical profile — from oil and refining to petrochemicals, aviation, and automotive industries — and the university plays a vital role in all of these areas,” he noted.

The cooperation agreement was signed in Minnikhanov’s presence by Tatarstan’s Minister of Education and Science, Ilsur Khadiullin, and the University Rector, Academician Andrey Rudskoy, who emphasized the significance of this collaboration.

“This will be recorded in the university’s Book of Honorary Doctors — a legacy that will live on for centuries, as the Polytechnic will endure,” Rudskoy said during the ceremony.

SPbPU is one of Russia’s premier national research universities and regularly hosts international symposia and conferences, attracting top scientists from around the globe.
