A Roscosmos delegation headed by Special Representative of the Russian President for International Space Cooperation and Director-General of the State Corporation Dmitry Rogozin and the leadership of the Turkish Space Agency and the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology discussed the preparation of an agreement between the governments of Russia and Turkey on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, the Roscosmos press service said on Tuesday.
"The ceremony was chaired by the head of Turkish Space Agency Serdar Huseyin Yildirim and Minister of Industry and Technology of Turkey Mustafa Varank. The parties discussed promising directions of bilateral cooperation and outlined practical steps for their implementation. The partners dwelled on preparation of agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of the Republic of Turkey on cooperation in research and use of outer space for peaceful purposes", reads the message following the working visit of Roscosmos delegation to Turkey.
The state corporation stressed that this document should become a contractual and legal basis for further joint work.
"The agreement will allow the two countries to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in manned cosmonautics, creation of space equipment, scientific research in space, planetary research, remote sensing of the Earth, monitoring of outer space, satellite navigation, telecommunications and communications," the press service explained.
A delegation of Roscosmos and organizations of the rocket and space industry visited Turkey from November 22 to 23. Earlier it was reported that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan claimed that Moscow had offered Ankara to establish cooperation in launching rockets into space.
