Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is expected to pay an official visit to Russia soon, where he will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to Mikhail Bogdanov, the Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister.

“He will come on an official visit soon,” Bogdanov told TASS, responding to a related question.

Bogdanov confirmed that Abbas will engage in discussions with the Russian president during his visit.

Earlier reports indicated that Abbas' visit to Moscow is scheduled for August 12-14. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the visit is in its final stages of preparation and that the Kremlin will announce the dates soon.

Abbas' visit to Moscow was initially planned for November 15, 2023, but it was postponed at the request of the Palestinian side. Abbas last visited Russia in November 2021.
