Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stated that the rights of the Palestinian people are not open to debate, emphasizing that no one has the authority to determine their future for them.
“Respect for the legitimate rights of Palestinians is not a topic for discussion, and no one can decide their future on their behalf,” Abbas said, as reported by the WAFA news agency.
He reaffirmed that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of Palestine and strongly condemned US President Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate residents of Gaza to other countries. Abbas described such suggestions as a blatant violation of international law.
“The creation of a Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem and within the 1967 borders is the only path to peace and stability in the region,” Abbas insisted.
On February 4, Trump, during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, suggested that the US might consider long-term control of Gaza to foster development for peace in the Middle East. He also advocated for the relocation of Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring countries, asserting that those nations could finance the process. Trump further remarked that the U. is prepared to deploy troops to Gaza if deemed necessary.
