In a joint statement, BRICS member states expressed deep concern over the recent attacks on Iran by Israel and the United States, calling them a clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.
"We express deep concern regarding the military strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran since June 13, 2025, which constitute a breach of international law and the Charter of the United Nations," the statement read, as released by the Brazilian Foreign Ministry—Brazil currently holds the BRICS chairmanship.
The BRICS nations also reaffirmed their support for establishing a zone in the Middle East free of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction. The group voiced alarm over the targeting of Iranian nuclear facilities, stressing that such actions violate international norms and specific resolutions of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
"BRICS remains committed to promoting international peace and security, and to strengthening diplomacy and peaceful dialogue as the only sustainable path toward lasting stability in the region," the statement concluded.
