Chad's Transitional President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno expressed the historic significance of his visit to Moscow.
"This visit is historic; Chad and Russia have very long-standing relations. The last visit by a Chadian president to Russia occurred in 1968. We hope that the current visit will strengthen our bilateral relations on various fronts," he said during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Déby Itno conveyed gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized, "I came from a friendly, brotherly country, which wants to strengthen relations with a friendly country."
Putin, in response, assured that Moscow would closely monitor the situation in Chad and provide assistance to stabilize the country.
