In a significant development, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi emphasized the crucial need for a comprehensive dialogue involving all parties to the conflict in Sudan, aiming to bring an end to the ongoing crisis. President el-Sisi conveyed this message while inaugurating a meeting of heads of states bordering Sudan on Thursday, which was broadcasted by Al-Hadath TV channel.
During his address, President el-Sisi underscored Egypt's active efforts in providing humanitarian aid from donor countries and initiating substantive negotiations. He stressed the importance of commencing a comprehensive dialogue that includes the participation of all Sudanese parties. "We call on the parties to the Sudanese conflict to open dialogue and establish a communication mechanism," he stated, expressing Egypt's commitment to "exert every possible effort to resolve the crisis and contribute to sustainable peace in Sudan."
He further highlighted "the urgent need for an immediate cessation of hostilities due to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan." He called upon the army and rapid support forces to facilitate unimpeded access for humanitarian assistance to reach the affected population. Additionally, the Egyptian President urged the international community to honor their promises and provide support to Sudan's neighboring countries, which have borne the significant burden of hosting a large number of refugees.
The meeting of heads of states bordering Sudan has been convened with the primary objective of developing a unified position among the neighboring countries, aiming to facilitate the resolution of the armed conflict and implement joint measures to restore security in Sudan.
