Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin this week, according to the pro-government newspaper Hürriyet, which cites sources familiar with the matter.
Following his recent phone call with US President Donald Trump—where they discussed ways to resolve the Ukraine conflict and the prospects for peace talks—Erdoğan may now have a similar conversation with Putin, the report suggests.
Erdoğan and Trump spoke on March 16, with the Turkish leader reportedly expressing support for Washington’s diplomatic efforts regarding Ukraine.
According to Hürriyet, Ankara is satisfied with the outcome of the Erdoğan-Trump discussion. While there have been reports that Erdoğan could visit the US in April, the newspaper notes that this information remains unconfirmed.
