Russian President Vladimir Putin's approach has played an important role in the process of settling the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said this at a press conference in Baku on Thursday.

"I cannot disregard Mr. Putin's approaches. His positive attitude has helped bring this process in a positive direction. I also want to give importance to the platform [for regional security] that my brother [Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev] said. This platform can include Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran, Georgia, and Armenia if it agrees," Erdogan said, whose speech was broadcasted by TRT.

The Turkish leader also said Turkey had no problems with the Armenian people. "We have problems with the Armenian leadership. If they make positive steps, we can reopen our border with Armenia," the president added.
