Turkey is no longer engaged in extensive trade relations with Israel, confirmed the Republic's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"We no longer have intensive trade relations with Israel; we've ended it," he stated during a press conference following discussions in Ankara with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The broadcast was aired by TRT Haber TV channel.
Erdogan further mentioned that maintaining trade ties with Israel is impossible, particularly in light of the latest data indicating Israel's responsibility for the deaths of over 40,000 people and injuries to more than 75,000 in Gaza.
Since April 9, Turkey's Trade Ministry has enforced trade sanctions on Israel, restricting products in 1,019 items across 54 product groups. Erdogan previously stated that Ankara's export restrictions would remain until Israel complies with the decisions of the UN and the International Court of Justice concerning Gaza. Turkish authorities also indicated that they might impose additional sanctions on Israel depending on the situation's development in the region.
