Palestinian factions, after two days of meetings in Beijing, have agreed on the necessity of forming a government of national harmony, according to Husam Badran, a member of Hamas's politburo.
"The most important point of agreement reached by the Palestinian factions is the need to form a Palestinian government of national accord that will govern in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, oversee the reconstruction of the Strip, and prepare the conditions for elections," Badran said, as quoted on Hamas's Telegram channel. He emphasized that this solution is seen by Hamas as the most appropriate for Palestine following the Gaza war, creating a barrier to regional and international interference that opposes the interests of the Palestinian people.
Badran also noted that during the Beijing meeting, the factions endorsed demands regarding the ongoing Israeli aggression. These demands include a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, a complete withdrawal from the Strip, the provision of sufficient humanitarian aid to the people of the enclave, and the reconstruction of the Strip.
The Beijing declaration, signed by 14 factions, represents "an additional positive step toward achieving the unity of the Palestinian movement," Badran emphasized. He highlighted the significance of China as the location for the signing, noting its international prestige and strong stance in support of the Palestinian cause.
