Kazakhstan's government on Tuesday approved an action plan to stabilize the country's socio-economic situation after the unrest, according to a broadcast on the cabinet's website.
Kazakhstan's president instructed the cabinet to develop and adopt an action plan with operational and short-term measures aimed at the safety and comprehensive support of citizens and businesses, as well as at promptly stabilizing the socio-economic situation in the republic.
"In general, the implementation of this plan will ensure the prompt recovery of the socio-economic situation in the country in the short term after the January events," Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov said at the meeting.
According to him, first and foremost, the families of the dead and injured will be helped. "Employees of law enforcement agencies and civil protection bodies are also provided with adequate support from the state. All steps of the plan concerning the Ministry of Internal Affairs are very important and shall be realized qualitatively and operatively", he noted. Smailov explained that citizens and legal entities affected by the riots are provided with deferred repayment of bank loans and microcredits until the end of the state of emergency in the regions.
In addition, according to the prime minister, in order to reduce the burden on business until February 1, tax and customs inspections will be suspended, as well as the issuance of notifications on desk control.
