After the Taliban* came to power in Afghanistan, all countries of the world and Russia found themselves on the receiving end because of the threat of drug trafficking and terrorism, stated spokesman for the Russian president Dmitry Peskov.
"Answering the question whether he agrees with the opinion of Deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov that since the Taliban came to power, everyone except the Taliban would lose.
According to him, as long as such threats persist, all countries stand to gain from this situation.
"We don't know how the situation will develop in this respect. That is why we are saying that it is important for us to understand what the first and next steps of the current leadership of Afghanistan will be," Peskov added.
The Taliban stepped up their attack on government forces a month ago, entered Kabul on August 15 and the next day announced that the war was over. On the night of August 31, the US military left Kabul airport, ending nearly 20 years of US military presence in Afghanistan. On September 6, the Taliban announced that Panjshir, the last of 34 Afghan provinces, had come under their control.
