Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Egyptian counterpart Badr  Abdelatty emphasized the need to step up international efforts to implement the ceasefire and detainee exchange deal in Gaza. This was reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry following a phone conversation between the two ministers.

"The parties highlighted the need to intensify international efforts to ensure the phased implementation of the agreement on ceasing hostilities in Gaza and exchanging detainees, as well as increasing humanitarian aid deliveries to residents of the enclave," the ministry said.

In addition to exchanging views on the situation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone, the ministers also touched on developments in Ukraine.

"In the context of the Ukrainian crisis, Sergey Lavrov shared Russia’s assessment of the latest developments related to the goals of the special military operation," the statement said.

The ministers also discussed promising projects and areas for further strengthening the traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Egypt. "Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a trusting political dialogue, expanding trade, economic, and humanitarian ties, and enhancing coordination within the UN framework," the ministry added.
