On the sidelines of the high-level week of the 80th United Nations General Assembly session in New York, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and UN Secretary-General António Guterres held substantive talks regarding some of the world’s most pressing conflicts, including Ukraine and the Israeli-Palestinian crisis.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the meeting featured an in-depth exchange on the situation in Ukraine and developments in the Middle East, with Lavrov emphasizing the importance of impartial and equidistant conduct by the UN leadership and Secretariat staff, in strict accordance with Article 100 of the UN Charter.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between Russia and the UN. The Russian side stressed its dedication to maintaining the central coordinating role of the United Nations in global affairs and adherence to the principles of the UN Charter in their entirety and interconnection.
