Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi signed an agreement to waive visa requirements for citizens of both countries, TASS correspondent reports.
The agreement exempts tourists from both nations from visa requirements for stays of up to 30 days at a time, with a total stay not exceeding 90 days within a year. Previously, Russians could obtain a visa on arrival in Jordan for up to one month, costing 40 dinars (around $56).
The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that signing the agreement will “help further increase humanitarian and tourist exchanges and expand business ties with Jordan.”
Earlier, the Jordanian Cabinet approved the agreement with Russia on mutual visa waiver for tourists “as part of strengthening bilateral cooperation.” The draft was endorsed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in May.
