The emerging threats to Eurasian security predominantly originate from NATO, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated to journalists following the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
"The threats to Eurasian security come from various directions, but in the vast majority of cases, the source of these threats is NATO's aggressive stance, which aims to privatize and dominate all matters related to ensuring stability across our vast region," Lavrov declared.
He pointed out that the alliance is forming "quartets," "triads," and other small configuration structures, which are the "embryos of military blocs." "These closed military blocs are aimed at confronting those whom NATO views as adversaries or even mere competitors, including, of course, the People's Republic of China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and Russia," Lavrov added.
"We will firmly uphold the need to maintain the principles that have thus far underpinned the security architecture in the Asia-Pacific region," the Russian Foreign Minister stated. "This is a network of associations grouped around ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) based on principles of equality, equal indivisible security, consensus, and mutual respect. The West wants to destroy these structures," he emphasized.
