In a video message released on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website to mark Diplomatic Workers' Day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recognized the contributions of ministry staff and employees of subordinate institutions currently participating in the Special Military Operation.
"We are rightfully proud of the achievements of our outstanding predecessors," the minister stated. "We honor the bravery of the staff of the People’s Commissariat for Foreign Affairs of the USSR, who took up arms to defend the Motherland during the hardships of the Great Patriotic War. Their immortal feat serves as a standard for the employees of the Foreign Ministry and our subordinate institutions who are participating in the special military operation. Other ministry members are also playing their part, assisting frontline soldiers and their families, and supporting people affected by the crimes of Ukrainian neo-Nazis."
Lavrov emphasized that Russian diplomacy remains dedicated to creating the external conditions necessary for the country’s internal growth and the improved well-being of its citizens. "Our consistent and balanced foreign policy course largely sets the direction for global transformations, facilitating the emergence of a new, multipolar world order," he pointed out.
"The history of Russian diplomacy spans centuries, mirroring the stages of the strengthening of Russian statehood," Lavrov concluded. "Eras change, but our spiritual and moral values remain steadfast. Above all, these are a sincere, active, and selfless love for the Fatherland, and a firm commitment to the ideals of truth and justice."
