The principle of non-intervention is important for resolving crises in the Middle East, including in Libya, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
"We always advocate that the problems of any region should be resolved through dialogue, with the involvement of all states, through the search for a balance of interests. External players should help create conditions for such an inclusive dialogue and avoid attempts to drive wedges between countries, sow confrontation in the hope of gaining geopolitical unilateral advantages," Lavrov said at a press conference following talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
The Minister noted that it was necessary to formulate common approaches of the Islamic world to the key problems of our time and interaction between all Islamic countries. According to him, Russia seeks to contribute in every possible way to the creation of a unifying agenda, including within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
"Such a combination of efforts by all Muslims and all interested external players is required not only in relation to the Syrian crisis, but also in relation to Yemen, Iraq, Libya and, of course, in relation to breaking the deadlock in the Middle East settlement," Lavrov added.
