Sudan's army has taken control of a military base located at the airport in the town of Merowe in the northern state of the republic, the Al Arabiya TV channel reports.
According to its information, the military took complete control of the base, which had previously been seized by the rapid support forces (special forces) opposing the army. The Merowe airport was one of the focal points of the confrontation between the army and the special forces.
Footage published by the channel shows the airport command and control center with broken windows. Both civilian and military aircraft were damaged in the fighting, but several were left intact. One of the hangars at the airbase sustained significant damage.
