Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has arrived in Astana. Stepping off the plane at the Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport, the Russian premier began his three-day visit to the country.
The main working day for Mishustin in Astana will be January 30, when he will hold talks with Kazakhstan's leadership. The Russian government has announced that the agenda will cover a wide range of issues related to trade, economic cooperation, and cultural-humanitarian exchanges.
Specifically, Mishustin and Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektanov plan to focus on joint projects between the two countries in energy, industry, transportation, education, and culture.
This winter trip by the Russian prime minister to Kazakhstan is part of an ongoing tradition. Similar to previous years, Mishustin will participate in the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting and attend events at the Digital Almaty technology forum. He will also hold bilateral talks with his Kazakh counterparts. However, unlike in recent years, the head of the Russian cabinet is not only visiting Almaty but also the capital, Astana, where the country's highest governing bodies are located.
As part of this significant visit, both leaders aim to strengthen the multifaceted relationship between Russia and Kazakhstan. By addressing key areas such as energy and industrial collaboration, they seek to bolster economic ties and foster mutual growth. Additionally, their discussions on education and culture underscore a commitment to enhancing people-to-people connections and promoting shared values.
The inclusion of Astana in Mishustin's itinerary highlights the strategic importance of engaging directly with the nation's central authorities. This move reflects a broader effort to deepen diplomatic relations and ensure comprehensive cooperation across all levels of government.
