UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has taken a politicized stance on the situation in the Gaza Strip, refraining from condemning Israeli strikes on civilian objects, according to Vasily Nebenzya, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN.
"The political ground behind the secretary-general's decision has become glaringly apparent to all, especially in light of the Israeli army's callous and indiscriminate strikes on residential areas in Gaza. These strikes have killed thousands of children, yet the secretary-general hesitates to brand Israel as a violator and include it on his lists," Nebenzya asserted during a State Duma session. The statement was made at a meeting of the parliamentary commission investigating criminal acts against minors by the Kiev regime, coinciding with World Children's Day.
The permanent representative also criticized the situation surrounding the issuance of arrest warrants by the International Criminal Court for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Children's Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova, alleging illegal deportation or relocation of Ukrainian children. "It is truly shameful. I wonder if we will witness similar warrants from this questionable court against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who sanctioned the massacre in Gaza? In that tragic context, children aren't deported; they are simply killed through air and artillery strikes, often utilizing American weaponry," Nebenzya emphasized.
