Pakistan Committed to Comprehensive Partnership with Russia

28 November

Pakistan has affirmed its commitment to deepening its comprehensive partnership with Russia and will work to implement agreements reached during the recent session of the Russia-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Technical Cooperation.

"We are keen to implement every agreement reached during the commission," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi told TASS, describing the bilateral relationship as "very good and comprehensive, with strong future prospects."

Andrabi noted that cooperation between the two countries holds significant potential, not only through recently concluded agreements but also through previously established initiatives. "We look forward to continuing our very positive dialogue with our Russian friends on these matters," he added.

The spokesperson also highlighted recent meetings between Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Russian officials, including Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization council of heads of government. These discussions addressed global and regional security issues alongside economic cooperation.

The 10th session of the Russia-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission, held in Islamabad from November 25-27 and co-chaired by Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev and Pakistani Minister Awais Leghari, concluded with several signed documents aimed at enhancing bilateral economic cooperation. These included memoranda of understanding between the two countries' anti-monopoly and standardization authorities.
