Palestine Calls for Israel to be Declared a Rogue State

05 March

Acting Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh has called for Israel to be declared a rogue state and for it to be forced to reconnect water and electricity to the Gaza Strip, according to a statement made in Ramallah, West Bank.

"Israel must be forced to reconnect the Gaza Strip to the water and electricity supplies it has cut off," Shtayyeh was quoted as saying by the WAFA news agency. He emphasized that "Israel is challenging the world by committing its crimes, flouting international norms and laws. And so the world must challenge Israel to deliver aid to Gaza against its will, to stop supplying Israel with weapons, to start treating it as a rogue state that does not recognize international norms and hold it accountable for that."

Shtayyeh also called for Israel to allow the residents of the northern Gaza Strip to return to their homes, permit international organizations to operate throughout the Strip, especially in the north, and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid through UN agencies. He criticized the Israeli government, stating, "The Israeli government is nothing but a group of murderers who systematically commit crimes, assassinations and revenge." He held Israel responsible for leaving children in the enclave homeless and in the grip of cold, hunger, thirst, and disease.
