Russian peacekeepers and humanitarian mission coordinate their actions in Nagorno Karabakh with both Armenia and Azerbaijan, Russian President's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov assured.
"There is no who is in charge [in Nagorno-Karabakh], there are two sides, the two conflicting sides are Armenia and Azerbaijan," the Kremlin representative told reporters on Friday, answering a question with whom the Russian military was coordinating their actions. Peskov drew attention to the fact that Armenia and Azerbaijan "together with the Russian side signed a statement [on settlement]". "And in pursuance of the provisions of that statement, the Russian military, as well as the Russian humanitarian mission, which consists not only of the military, are coordinating their actions with the Azerbaijanis and Armenians," said the spokesperson of the Russian leader.
Speaking about Nagorno-Karabakh's status, Peskov pointed out that it "is defined by the relevant [UN] Security Council resolutions, which are quite old". He noted that "no country has changed" that approach. Peskov also recalled Russian President Vladimir Putin's words that "Karabakh itself was not recognized, it was not even recognized by Armenia itself".
