President of Kyrgyzstan declares special importance of cooperation with Russia

Cooperation with the Russian Federation is of particular importance for the Kyrgyz side, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov said during the meeting with Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov in the city of Cholpon-Ata on Thursday, the press service of the head of the republic reported.


"On July 28, in the city of Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul region, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov received the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov. The head of state noted that cooperation with Russia is of particular importance for Kyrgyzstan because of the historical and cultural commonality of the two peoples, traditional friendly ties, the community of interests in security, politics, economics, military-technical, cultural and humanitarian fields," reads the report.


According to the press service, the president also noted that "fruitful strategic cooperation and all-round interaction" were developing between the two countries. He added that the Kyrgyz side appreciates this and whatever difficulties there may be, "they remain behind based on mutual support."


"There was an exchange of views on cooperation between the prosecutor's offices of the two countries and security at the national, regional and global levels," the report stressed.


For his part, Krasnov assured that relations between the two countries are developing "in a positive direction," and the sides intend to further strengthen the strategic partnership. According to him, both states are currently facing common challenges and threats of trans-border nature - extremism, terrorism, illegal migration flows, as well as illicit trafficking of weapons and drugs.
