18 November 2022

The early presidential election in Kazakhstan will be held in a dignified and orderly manner, Head of the CIS mission Sergey Lebedev said on Friday. At the same time, he praised the level of members of district election commissions.

"We have made sure that members of district election commissions know their obligations and rules, which they have to follow while working with the voters. This is a guarantee that the elections will be held in a dignified and organized manner," said Lebedev at a briefing for journalists at the CEC of Kazakhstan.

Lebedev stressed that the mission has been working in Kazakhstan since October 27. "10 people are long-term observers, they have been observing the elections since October 27. They visited almost all regions of Kazakhstan," he added.

The head of the mission said that there are 174 observers from eight CIS countries. "We have come here with a good feeling: not just to make a picture of how the election campaign is going on, but to help in its organization as much as possible so that it is held without violations. Of course, this assistance should by no means involve interference in internal affairs, but some tips on how to organize work at the polling stations: how to place ballot boxes, how to provide seats for observers at the polling stations," explained Lebedev.
