Putin and Bahrain’s King Discuss Middle East Stability

Russian President Vladimir Putin and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain held a phone conversation, during which they emphasized the importance of the first Russia-Arab Summit, scheduled for October in Moscow. The discussion, according to the Kremlin press service, focused heavily on the escalating situation in the Middle East.

 

Amid the regional tensions, both leaders reaffirmed the relevance of the Russian initiative to host the summit:

 

“In light of the growing instability in the region, the upcoming Russia-Arab Summit in October remains highly relevant,” the Kremlin statement noted.

 

The two leaders called for swift efforts to restore peace and stability in the Middle East and underscored the need for diplomatic solutions.

 

They also confirmed mutual interest in deepening cooperation between Russia and Bahrain across multiple areas:

 

“There was a reaffirmed commitment to further expand Russia-Bahrain cooperation in trade, economic affairs, finance, investment, as well as cultural and humanitarian fields.”

 

The leaders also reviewed the outcomes of the 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which took place from June 18–21. Bahrain participated as the guest country, sending a high-level delegation led by Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the King’s representative for humanitarian and youth affairs and national security advisor.

 

President Putin praised Bahrain’s active role in the forum, while King Hamad expressed gratitude for the warm reception extended to the Bahraini delegation.

 

The inaugural Russia-Arab Summit is set for October 15. According to Russia’s Foreign Ministry, nearly all Arab states have shown strong interest in participating.
