Russian President Vladimir Putin and Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani exchanged views on the Syrian issue during a phone call, according to the Kremlin press service. The two leaders stressed the importance of maintaining Syria’s unity and agreed to work together on this matter.
"During the exchange of views on the situation in Syria, both sides highlighted the importance of ensuring its unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity," the Kremlin stated.
Russia and Qatar reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation in stabilizing Syria’s socio-economic situation during the current transitional period and providing humanitarian aid to the Syrian people.
The leaders also expressed concern over the renewed hostilities in Gaza and underlined their readiness to support de-escalation efforts and contribute to long-term regional stability.
Strengthening Moscow-Doha Cooperation
Discussions also covered key aspects of expanding Russia-Qatar cooperation, particularly following the recent meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission in Doha.
The two sides agreed to intensify coordinated efforts to strengthen investment ties and broaden cooperation in industry, energy, transport, logistics, culture, and sports.
Ramadan Greetings
President Putin extended his congratulations to the Emir and the people of Qatar on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. "Vladimir Putin congratulated the leadership and people of Qatar on the sacred month for Muslims," the Kremlin press service reported.
