Putin and Macron discuss the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh

Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh in detail with French President Emmanuel Macron, the Kremlin press service reports.

 

"Vladimir Putin informed about the steps taken to prevent further escalation of hostilities and the early resumption of negotiations for a political and diplomatic settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue," the report says. - "The sides stressed the importance of observing the ceasefire agreements reached on October 10 and 17".

 

"The parties stressed their readiness to continue close coordination between Russia and France as co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and the UN Security Council," the Kremlin noted. In addition, the leaders agreed on contacts at various levels.

 

During the telephone conversation, the Presidents of Russia and France confirmed their interest in strengthening joint efforts to combat terrorism. Putin expressed his condolences in connection with the terrorist attack in the suburb of Paris on October 16 - the barbaric murder of a French teacher. "In this context, mutual interest in activation of joint efforts for combating terrorism and spreading extremist ideology was confirmed", the report reads.
