Putin and Saudi Crown Prince Discuss OPEC+ and Energy Markets

03 February

The stability of the global energy market and ongoing cooperation within the OPEC+ framework were the central themes of a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

"The progress of joint work within the OPEC+ format to ensure the stability of the global energy market was discussed," the Kremlin press service reported regarding the contents of the call.

In addition to energy policy, the two leaders touched upon "pressing international and regional issues," concluding with a commitment to maintain their regular personal contacts.

The conversation also held historical significance as the two nations approach the centenary of their diplomatic relations on February 19. Both parties concluded that the partnership between Russia and Saudi Arabia has evolved over the past 100 years into a truly multifaceted and mutually beneficial bond.

"On the eve of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties, it was noted with satisfaction that bilateral relations have reached a high level," the statement continued.

The president and the crown prince agreed to further strengthen cooperation across all sectors. "It was decided to continue taking joint steps to deepen collaboration in the political, trade, economic, and humanitarian fields," the press service added.
