Presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan Vladimir Putin and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a telephone conversation on Monday, the Kremlin press service reported.
"Various practical aspects of the development of mutually beneficial bilateral trade and economic cooperation were discussed in detail, including in the energy, transport and logistics and humanitarian areas," the statement said.
Press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov told journalists earlier that Putin and Tokayev had talked over the phone. He noted that "in general, various aspects of bilateral relations were discussed including transport corridors and trade and economic cooperation."
According to a Kremlin report, the leaders also confirmed their intention to further strengthen allied relations between the two countries and agreed to continue contacts. "Relations are multifaceted, so the agenda is very and very full, the presidents often communicate with each other," Peskov explained in this regard.
Later, Tokayev's press service informed that the presidents discussed the current state and prospects for further strengthening of bilateral relations in the context of the implementation of earlier agreements reached at the highest level. "Special attention was paid to the issues of expanding transit-transport routes and trade and economic ties. The leaders of Kazakhstan and Russia also considered the schedule of upcoming events," the report said.
