Russian President Vladimir Putin announced during a direct line and press conference that Russia is prepared to establish a hospital in a stadium in the Gaza Strip. However, he noted that Israel has not yet endorsed this initiative.
"But for this, of course, we need the consent of both Egypt and Israel," he emphasized. "I spoke with [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu, and after consultations within their various departments, the Israeli side expressed concerns about the safety of opening a Russian hospital in Gaza," Putin stated. He specified that he had also discussed the topic with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah rl-Sisi. "He is in favor and supports it," the Russian leader said.
He said that during his recent visit to the UAE, he learned that the Emirati side had opened a field hospital in Gaza territory near the city of Rafah. "And we talked about the possibility for Russia to open a hospital there as well, perhaps at the stadium," the Russian head of state added.
According to him, Israel's lack of consent to open a hospital does not mean that Russia will stop its efforts to overcome the humanitarian crisis. Thus, there is an agreement with the Israelis to increase the Russian side's supply of medical equipment and medicines to Gaza, the head of state noted. "And we will do it, certainly," he assured.
"It is necessary to safe the people in Gaza. We need to provide massive humanitarian support to the people," Putin emphasized.
