Putin: Russia Supports Strengthening UN's Central Role

15 January

Russia advocates strengthening the central role of the United Nations in global affairs, President Vladimir Putin stated during a ceremony where new ambassadors presented their credentials.

“Russia stands for bolstering the key, central role of the United Nations in world affairs, which marked its anniversary last year,” Putin noted, recalling that 80 years ago the UN Charter enshrined fundamental rules and principles of international relations.

“Eighty years ago our fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers, having won World War II, managed to unite, balance interests, and agree on fundamental rules and principles of international communication, enshrining them in full in the UN Charter,” the Russian president added.
