Putin Thanks Yemen for International Cooperation During Kremlin Meeting

28 May

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude to Yemen for its continued cooperation on international issues during a meeting at the Kremlin with Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council.

“The relationship between our countries has a long history and has always been friendly,” Putin stated. “We cooperate on the international stage, and we are grateful to you for this collaboration. Our diplomatic and foreign affairs agencies remain in constant contact, which is very encouraging.”

The Russian leader noted the active nature of bilateral ties, emphasizing that Moscow and Sana’a have long-standing working relations. “Thanks to our specialists, numerous industrial and infrastructure facilities were built in Yemen, including a deep-water port that continues to operate effectively to this day,” he added.

Putin recalled that diplomatic ties between Russia and Yemen were first established in 1928 and welcomed the recent reopening of the Russian Embassy in the country.

He also personally congratulated Al-Alimi on Yemen’s recent national holiday — the 35th anniversary of the country's unification.
