Russian President Vladimir Putin has criticized the existing unipolar world order as unjust and called for the establishment of a multipolar global system where all participants in international relations are truly equal. He made these remarks during a press conference following his visit to China.
“It is clear that the current world is unipolar, and this is unfair,” Putin said in response to a question about what exactly is unjust in the current global system. “Our approach is not to base relations on majority rule or numbers, but on ideas. We build our cooperation based on principles, not the quantity of participants.”
Putin emphasized that the core idea is that the world must become multipolar, meaning all members of the international community should have equal standing, and no one should be more equal than others.
“The unipolar world must come to an end—not only for the benefit of the majority of people but also for those nations whose leaderships still cling to this declining and, one might say, exhausted system,” Putin stressed.
