During a visit to Pakistan, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi raised doubts about the existence of the "Israeli regime" should Israel strike Iranian territory again.
"If [Israel] makes the mistake of attacking Iran's territory, the situation will be entirely different, and it's unclear whether anything will be left of the Israeli regime," Raisi was quoted by his press office as saying.
Raisi also mentioned that in response to Israel's attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which he stated violated international law, Tehran had conducted a significant strike on Israeli territory. He affirmed Iran's commitment to "proudly defend the oppressed people of Palestine."
On April 13, Iran launched drones and missiles towards Israel, citing various alleged crimes, including the attack on Iran's embassy section in Damascus earlier in April, attributed to Israel. Iran emphasized that its attack targeted solely military sites, including those that hit the consulate.
The Israel Defense Forces claimed to have intercepted 99% of the Iranian projectiles aimed at the country, with assistance from Britain, the United States, and France in intercepting Iranian missiles and drones.
Tehran has stated it does not intend further action after the recent attack and does not seek escalation. However, Iran declared its readiness to respond firmly with "more lethal weapons" if Israel were to retaliate.
