Moscow has expressed deep regret over Israel’s decision to resume military operations in Gaza, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"Moscow deeply regrets Israel’s resumption of military operations in Gaza. As past experience has shown, the issue of hostage release cannot be resolved through force. Russia strongly condemns any actions that lead to civilian casualties and the destruction of social infrastructure," the statement read.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also called on both Israeli and Palestinian sides to return to negotiations aimed at finding a mutually acceptable compromise regarding hostages. Such a solution, according to Moscow, would help stabilize the situation in Gaza and pave the way for the full-scale reconstruction of the Palestinian enclave.
