Russia triples wheat zupplies to Africa in first half of year

During the first half of 2023, Russia experienced a notable surge in wheat supplies to Africa, reaching a record 9 million tons. The figure is three times higher than the wheat shipments recorded during the same period the previous year. Russian Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev shared this information with journalists while attending the Russia-Africa summit.

 

"We have supplied nearly three times more wheat to African countries compared to the same period last year, totaling approximately 9 million tons. These figures are unprecedented, and we have not reached such levels before. However, we recognize that the potential for further growth is far from being exhausted," he stated.

 

Patrushev highlighted that the trade turnover of agricultural products between Russia and Africa is experiencing significant growth. In the first half of 2023, it surged by 60% compared to the same period last year, amounting to approximately $4.5 billion. "Russia is determined to continue expanding agricultural trade with African countries and aims to further surpass the current achievements," the minister emphasized.

 

"We have seen a significant increase in the export of Russian products to African countries. In the first half of the year, our exports almost doubled and reached a total of about $3.3 billion," - Patrushev emphasized. - "We are actively engaged in cooperation with African countries, and I am optimistic that our exports will continue to grow."
