Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Bogdanov Discusses Gaza Situation with Palestinian Representative

04 February

Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Representative of the President for the Middle East and Africa, held talks with Mustafa Barghouti, head of the Palestinian National Initiative movement, focusing on the situation in the Gaza Strip and the broader Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The discussions were detailed in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“The meeting involved a thorough discussion of the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, with particular emphasis on the conditions in the Gaza Strip. Opinions were also exchanged on the prospects for achieving intra-Palestinian reconciliation,” the statement read.

The Russian side reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts aimed at overcoming intra-Palestinian divisions. These efforts are aligned with the political platform of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), which envisions the creation of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
