The decision by Kazakhstan to remove the Taliban (banned in Russia) from its list of banned organizations is expected to have positive implications for Afghanistan's reintegration and regional stability, according to Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"We hope that such a decision of Astana will positively affect the development of dialogue with the authorities of Afghanistan, strengthen mutual trust, including in the common efforts to maintain regional security, fight terrorism and drug crime. This step will contribute to bringing Afghanistan out of international isolation and its further integration into global political and economic processes, and will open up new opportunities for humanitarian support for the Afghan population. We also believe that this decision will have a positive impact on the promotion of inter-Afghan reconciliation and contribute to the stabilization of the situation in the country," stated Zakharova.
The decision by Kazakhstan, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, aligns with the global effort to recognize the Taliban differently from a terrorist organization. Kazakhstan, while making this decision, reaffirmed its commitment to adhere strictly to decisions and resolutions established by the UN Security Council and General Assembly.
