Russian Foreign Ministry Calls for Restraint Between Iran and Pakistan

18 January

Amidst escalating tensions between Iran and Pakistan, the Russian Foreign Ministry has issued a call for both nations to exercise maximum restraint and seek resolution through political and diplomatic means. Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, expressed concern over the recent escalation in the Iran-Pakistan border area and urged the involved parties to prioritize peaceful methods in addressing emerging issues.

"We express the hope that Iran and Pakistan will soon find a way to settle their differences in the spirit of traditional good-neighborliness, including those related to curbing terrorist threats emanating from each other's territories," Zakharova emphasized in a commentary.

Highlighting the importance of coordination in anti-terrorist operations beyond sovereign territories, Zakharova lamented the current developments between friendly Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries, with which Russia is fostering partnership relations. She stressed that the worsening situation benefits those opposed to peace, stability, and security in the region.

The Russian Foreign Ministry underlined its fundamental readiness to collaborate in the global fight against international terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
