Moscow is seriously concerned about the recent incidents on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated in a commentary distributed on Friday by Alexander Bikantov, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"We are seriously concerned about the recent armed incidents on certain sections of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border that have resulted in human casualties. We express our condolences to the families of the victims and wish recovery to the injured and wounded," the statement reads.

Moscow also calls on Azerbaijan and Armenia to refrain from any actions fraught with further degradation of the situation on the border, the report said.

According to him, the situation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border continues to be tense. "We urge the sides to refrain from any actions fraught with further degradation of the situation, solve all arising issues in a political and diplomatic way," the Foreign Ministry stressed.

The Russian party is ready to continue to "render all necessary assistance" to Baku and Yerevan to normalize the situation on the border "through de-escalation measures and early start of joint work on the delimitation and demarcation of the border," the diplomatic mission noted.

"We intend to work actively to turn the Transcaucasus into a zone of stability, security and prosperity in line with the trilateral statements of the leaders of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation of November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021," the Foreign Ministry added.
