Russian MFA condemns terrorist attack in Pakistan

According to a comment published on the website of the Russian foreign ministry by the official representative Maria Zakharova, no Russian citizens were injured in the terrorist attack that took place in Pakistan.

 

"As per available information, there are no Russian citizens among the injured. As of now, no radical organization has claimed responsibility for the attack", the message reads.

 

Zakharova emphasized that Russia strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Pakistan and expects that the organizers of this heinous act will be apprehended and appropriately punished. She extended her sympathies and support to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery to all those injured in the tragic incident.

 

 

The suicide bombing occurred on July 30 during a ruling coalition party convention, where approximately 400 people were present. The attack resulted in over 40 fatalities, including the party's secretary general, Har Ziaullah.

 

As a response to the situation, a state of emergency has been declared in Bajaur, and hospitals in Peshawar, the provincial capital, have been placed on high alert to handle the numerous critical injuries.

 

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered an investigation to apprehend the perpetrators behind the attack. The incident has garnered condemnation from various countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United States and Turkey.
