European Union countries have become the primary obstacle to reaching a negotiated solution on Iran's nuclear program, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated in an interview with International Affairs magazine.
"European countries are the main impediment to finding a negotiated solution on the Iranian nuclear program," he declared.
"We support our Iranian colleagues and friends in their pursuit of a diplomatic solution," Ryabkov emphasized. He noted that EU nations "have become so entangled in their political and geopolitical battles that they've completely turned things upside down," adding that "they are now the main spoiler in the search for a negotiated settlement."
The deputy minister asserted that the EU and its member states currently play an exclusively negative role in the entire system of international relations. "There is no other source of so-called ideas and approaches more saturated with negative energy than modern Brussels and leading European capitals. This essentially affects everything, and the Iranian nuclear issue is no exception," he concluded.
