Syria Reaffirms Commitment to Restoring Security Nationwide

02 December

The Syrian government remains steadfast in its mission to protect citizens and restore security and stability across the country, as stated by Foreign Minister Bassam Sabbagh during a phone conversation with his Bahraini counterpart, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.

According to a statement from Syria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sabbagh emphasized that the government will continue its determined fight against terrorism, aiming to strengthen state authority, uphold the rule of law, and ensure nationwide stability.

“Syrian authorities are resolute in defending citizens, combating terrorism, and restoring law and order. Our commitment to achieving security and stability across the nation remains unwavering,” Sabbagh affirmed during the discussion.

This comes amid heightened tensions following a large-scale assault launched on November 27 by the extremist group Jabhat al-Nusra (banned in Russia). The group attacked northern Syrian villages, towns, and military positions protected by the Syrian army. As per the Syrian Armed Forces' command, the offensive targeted both civilian areas and government troops.

On November 30, the Syrian military announced counteroffensive operations, including strikes against terrorist positions in Aleppo. The Ministry of Defense confirmed that several neighborhoods had been breached by insurgents, necessitating a regrouping of forces to safeguard civilian and military lives while preparing for a decisive counterattack.
