President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the press service of the Kazakh leader.
The two presidents highlighted the positive momentum in relations between Kazakhstan and Russia, describing them as built on friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership.
They also reviewed trade and economic cooperation, noting the successful implementation of agreements reached at previous high-level meetings.
The leaders last spoke by phone on December 28, 2024, when they discussed the importance of ensuring a thorough and transparent investigation into the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane near Aktau. During that call, they also went over the joint efforts both sides were taking to clarify the circumstances of the tragedy.
